If you’re like me, you juggle what you must afford, what you want to afford and what you would like to afford. Bills come first…; home decor may be shuffled towards the bottom. But what we all look for is the quality of items that we purchase.

Quality” is an interesting word.

There’s the phrase “Quality of Life,” with all the connotations that involves for those of us sharing this planet. “Star Quality” is another phrase heard quite often, sometimes a little too often. One phrase that has rather gone out of fashion is a “Man or Woman of Quality“. “Quality Time” is a phrase that came into its own once both mother and father worked outside the home. “Quality Assurance” and “Quality Control” are two business-related phrases full of meaning and replete with newspaper stories. “Quality” can refer to a musical piece, or to how the piece is played by a given soloist, encompassing tone, phrasing, distinctiveness.

Looking up the word “Quality” in a dictionary, I spot the definition “character with respect to fineness, or grade of excellence”, i.e., in food or products.

Quality” is an attribute (another fine word!), a characteristic – innate or acquired.

There’s also — today, especially — the “quality” of the weather. After yet more snow overnight, I opened the shade beside my desk to see this bonanza of ice crystals feathering the window! As my office mate observed: People pay to have that kind of “window painting” done.

Looks just like lace, climbing upwards from the white blanketed earth…

Many people are interested in cordless shades, especially after recent concerns over child and pet safety. Be advised, however, of the steps you can take to keep cords out of reach: with cord cleats, velcro dots, cord guides. We take child-safety seriously at CellularWindowShades!

We also take our Production standards to stringent margins — and we found the combination of double cell blackout fabric (often desired in bedroom settings) with the Cordless did not function, over time, as well as we could have hoped. Therefore, in the spring the decision was taken to remove the double cell blackout fabric as an option for Cordless shades.

Q: So what is your option for the room-darkening effects of a blackout combined with the ease of the Cordless shade?

A: Single cell blackout fabric from the 1/2-inch, or Virtuoso line. This combination gives you the best product for ease of operation.

We also have available — at a terrific 30% off! — the 3/8-inch single cell “Fanfare” line. Please note that these fabrics are only available with the Standard Cord Lock or the Top Down Bottom Up operating features.

When in doubt: the Light Filtering double-cell fabric works for all the different lifting methods: Standard Cord Lock; Top Down Bottom Up; Continuous Cord Loop (the “Smoothy”); Cordless; as well as Motorized.

Check out our website for more information on lift operation choices!

Here’s a quick little post to alert readers to a page we’d love to build up: Your Q&A Forum — where people are free to post their questions, or find answers among those listed. We start off with a query that came via the phone: Can you use the “side track” system with skylight shades? Click on the link (or the page tab above) to find out the answer to that timely question!
