I have 2 Graber double cell cellular shades 71 inches long and there is a big change in the width (distance across, thickness) of the cells from bottom to top. The cell width goes from 1 1/2 inches at the bottom to ¾ inch in the middle to ½ inch at the top. There is a 1 inch change in cell width from top to bottom. I’m told by the Graber rep that this flattening of the cells at the top of a shade” is the nature of the product”. Is that correct?

Hi, Rich — Terrible to hear the strange problem you are having with the material. I don’t know a lot firsthand, through experience, with Graber shades. If it truly is the nature of the product, I would think that comes down to the fabric of the cellular shade itself: Spun lace, as opposed to the bonded polyester you find in the Symphony Shade line.

You don’t say the age of your shade; whether this phenomenon has happened over time or whether you noticed this pretty much out of the box.

We’ve built shades much longer than 71-inches and you would never notice such a flattening of cells from bottom to top. Do you have the 3/8-inch cell? A variation from an inch-and-a-half (larger than it should be) to half-inch (smaller than it should be) really should not be tolerated.
