The Inside Scoop at

Thomas Mann’s House

Posted on: February 9, 2012

Have a few spare thousand to spend a month? If so, novelist Thomas Mann’s Pacific Palisades/Brentwood house might be just the place for you! The LA Times has listed this as a “hot property“.

The Palisadian Post has a 2007 article discussing Ehrhard Bahr’s book, Weimar on the Pacific: German Exile Culture in Los Angles and the Crisis of Modernism (U of CA Press). Mann’s neighbors included Bertolt Brecht and Arnold Schoenberg, among others.

Thomas Mann’s exile is also the topic of a 2011 book, by Evelyn Juers, House of Exile; War, Love and Literature from Berlin to Los Angeles.
